Autism Heroes Gala

Celebrities Against Autism (CAA) held the first "Honoring Autism Heroes and Autism Ambassadors: Children Making a Difference" gala on Saturday, April 28, 2012. CAA Founder Val McFarland's hope was to make a true celebration of people making a difference in the world of autism. The event was hosted by Dr. William Demray (of Preservation Dental) at his private residence. The guests of honor included actor Gary Cole (Office Space, Desperate Housewives) and Erin Nicole from WXYZ-Channel 7. Gary Cole was quick to accept the invitation to attend. He has an autistic daughter heading off to college soon. He told the crowd of 500 about the first day his daugher went to school. Cole's wife sent each student in the class a letter introducing their daughter and telling them what to expect , asked them to be patient, and invited the families to ask them questions whenever they wanted.

Special thanks to patients, family, friends and staff of Preservation Dental, including Rocky's of Northville, Genitti's Hole-in-the-Wall and Empire Packing, for the generous support.
